Springfield’s two largest economic engines are Healthcare employing over 30,000 people with 6 major regional hospitals and the second economic base is Higher Education with a total of 17 area campuses of a combination of university and college liberal arts programs, a community technical college, religious based colleges plus a seminary, and business colleges with over 42,000 students and a wealth of educational opportunities.  The area has Missouri’s largest tourist destination since it is the National Headquarters for Bass Pro and the adjacent National Wonders of Wildlife Museum.  The second largest tourist destination in Missouri is only 35 miles south of Springfield, Silver Dollar City in Branson with an additional 50 plus theatres and an amusement park and other family fun activities….loads of entertainment and recreation.
